"Bless the Broken Road"

Carolyn and Abdallah were married in historic Hollin Hall's Fireplace Room on the afternoon of August 25.  Their wedding program contained words from the song "Bless the Broken Road" by Rascal Flatts...

"...This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you."

Forever More

Saturday's rainshowers held off long enough for Moushaline and Michael to be married in Hollin Hall's main walled garden on the morning of August 25.  Guests entered the garden through the arbor near the landmark windmill. Garlands of flowers bordered the path.

The bride pins the groom's boutonnaire before the ceremony.

Pastor Bart Purdy officiates.

Sawing the log -- a German tradition that shows how well the new couple will
work together to overcome their obstacles.

I Can't Stop Loving You

Corina and Jason were married in Hollin Hall's Main Walled Garden on August 18.  It was a beautiful wedding on a beautiful morning, cool for August.  The clergy, groom and best man entered to the the strains of "I Can't Stop Loving You."
The bride was accompanied by her father, Mr. Willie Ellis, III.

Reverend Glenn Henderson officiated at the 10 a.m. ceremony.
A toast of thanks to their guests...and to each other.

Hollin Hall Pastry Shop provided the wedding cake.  Other sweet treats came from Alexandria Pastry Shop.

An array of artfully displayed fresh fruits and sweets on the slate patio tempted the guests.

"Together you shall be forevermore...."

Kelly and Richard were married in Hollin Hall's walled garden on June 7th.

Kelly and her dad  walk under the trellis to the garden.  The metal structure in the background is the windmill that brought water to the property when it was a farm.

The 100+ degree temperature did not lessen the joy of friends and family who witnessed  their vows with their friend, Fletcher officiating.

The reading was "On Marriage" from Khalil Gibran's The Prophet.

Catering was by Barrett's of Alexandria.

This day I will marry my friend ...

Soniya and Chris were married in a traditional Hindu ceremony in the Meeting House on June 30, with Dr. Virendra Sharma officiating.

We had encouraged the couple to have their ceremony inside rather than in the walled garden because of the 99 degree weather forecast.  We didn't know that on Friday night, we (along with much of the Washington Metropolitan area) would lose power!  No lights.  No A/C.

"This day I will marry my friend,
the one I laugh with,
live for,
dream with,
love"

The rooms were lit by battery-powered lanterns. Main Event Catering did a splendid job of the set up and catering.  Family and friends shared the special day by continuing to give all the love and support they have demonstrated all along the way.

The outdoor garden chairs were used for both the indoor ceremony and the reception.

Nichole and Jacob's Big Day

The heat wave broke just in time for Nichole and Jacob's wedding in the Circle Garden in front of Hollin Hall on June 23.

The couple's first dance was during the cocktail reception on the slate terrace.

Catering by Rocklands BBQ included a roast pig (not pictured here!) The garden chairs were carried inside for the reception.  Draping of some parts of the Meeting House was by Fabrications Events.  Bob Yutzy of Dominion DJs provided music and lighting.
